Nagrik India conducted the third session of its flagship "HUM NAGRIK HAIN" civic literacy programme at New Daffodils Public School, Patiala, engaging approximately 70 students of Classes VIII to X. The one-hour interactive session covered digital citizenship and cyber safety, fundamental rights, the Right to Information (RTI), environmental responsibility, and the role of young people in everyday civic life. Moving beyond conventional textbook learning, the session used visual prompts, real-world examples, and interactive discussions to help students connect civic concepts with situations they encounter in their daily lives. The programme concluded with a civic awareness survey, gathering student perspectives to inform Nagrik India's ongoing efforts to understand and strengthen youth civic literacy. This engagement marked the third school session under "HUM NAGRIK HAIN", following programmes at Government Senior Secondary School, Bhankhar, and Veer Haqeeqat Rai Senior Secondary School and Playways Sr. Sec. School. Through these school-based initiatives, Nagrik India continues to advance its mission of making civic knowledge accessible, relevant, and actionable for young people.

Through an interactive session covering digital citizenship, cyber safety, constitutional rights, the Right to Information (RTI), environmental responsibility, and responsible citizenship, students explored how civic awareness extends beyond textbooks into everyday life. The session featured discussions, real-world examples, and multimedia content that encouraged active participation and critical thinking. As with every Nagrik programme, students also participated in a civic awareness survey, contributing to the initiative's ongoing research into youth civic literacy and engagement.
On 9 July 2026, Nagrik India successfully conducted the inaugural edition of its flagship civic literacy programme, "Hum Nagrik Hain", at Government Senior Secondary School, Bhankhar, Patiala, engaging nearly 70 students in an interactive two-hour session designed to bridge the gap between textbook civics and everyday citizenship. The programme explored themes including digital citizenship, cyber safety, the Right to Education (RTE), the Right to Information (RTI), environmental responsibility, and public accountability through discussions, real-life case studies, multimedia, and practical examples relevant to students' daily lives. Rather than focusing on memorisation, the session encouraged participants to question, discuss, and reflect on how governance, law, and civic responsibility shape their lives beyond the classroom. The programme received an encouraging response from both students and faculty, with students actively participating throughout the session and expressing interest in similar initiatives in the future. The Principal, Mr. Shashi Kumar, appreciated the initiative and acknowledged the importance of such programmes in nurturing informed and responsible citizens, while the event was successfully supported by faculty members Ms. Kiranjeet Kaur, Ms. Babalpreet Kaur, Ms. Paramjeet Kaur, and Mr. Gurjant Singh. This session marks the beginning of the "Nagrik 100 Schools Initiative", through which Nagrik India seeks to bring meaningful civic education to classrooms across the country and empower young people with the knowledge, confidence, and civic understanding needed to participate thoughtfully in a democratic society.
